James Tech Garage @UN WSSD2

What does it mean for a high school–led initiative to stand on a global stage?

In November 2025, Jinwook Chang presented the James Tech Garage at the United Nations Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha, Qatar. Selected to present under the “Future in Action: Youth Innovation and Practice for Social Development” session, I shared JTG’s journey among global leaders, researchers, and young changemakers committed to sustainable progress. The experience not only highlighted youth potential in advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals but also reaffirmed the impact of curiosity-driven innovation in shaping a more sustainable future.

Presenting James Tech Garage at the United Nations Exhibition

On November 5th, I had the privilege to present my four-year-long journey at the United Nations Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha, Qatar. I was invited to speak at the Future in Action: Youth Innovation and Practice for Social Development session under the Nanjing Ivy Youth Service Center, totaling approximately 100+ audience members from all around the world.

During my three days in Qatar, I learned how innovation takes on many forms—from grassroots education initiatives to large-scale sustainability programs—each driven by the shared goal of improving lives. Engaging with delegates, youth leaders, and policy experts gave me a deeper understanding of how science and social responsibility intersect on a global scale. Beyond presenting, I exchanged ideas on accessible STEM education, discussed collaboration opportunities, and reflected on how local action can translate into global impact. The experience broadened my perspective on what it means to create meaningful change and strengthened my commitment to continue expanding James Tech Garage’s reach worldwide.

Stay tuned for the upcoming blog post!

Jinwook Chang - A Short Message to Myself

Opportunities come and go. Don't cry because it's over—smile because it happened.

I often realize that things don't always go the way they were planned, and so did my travel and presentation at the UN Summit. Serendipitous encounters in life, indeed, the most unexpected moments in life are the ones that spark the greatest inspiration.

Although at times it be grueling, get your mind straight and keep up with what you're doing—light welcomes you with open arms at the other end of the tunnel.
